Near and Far was part of the group show Déjà-vous | Déjà-vu,
As the Accès Asie Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary, as an independent curator, I wanted to invite a variety of local Asian artists at different stages of their careers and styles, but also to engage with the public in a setting other than a gallery or art center. The idea was born in June 2024 during my research at the Cinémathèque québécoise on Asian characters in Quebec media. About the first prominent Asian character, "Les Lunettes" (ref.: Epic Speech of Les Lunettes - La guerre des Tuques 1984), Opticien Laoun has generously lent us his space to celebrate Asian heritage in Canada since 2002.
