Distillation (2003)
For this project, I created six boxes. The bottom part of the box was constructed from particle board and contained a hidden speaker and woofer. The top part housed a plexiglass square with a mirrored bottom. Each box was hooked-up to one of the six instruments in the ensemble. A two inch layer of water was in each box plexiglass casing.
The idea was that the playing of the instruments made caused a vibration in each box and made the water come alive with the sound.
There was also a video component of underwater scenes that was projected onto the wall behind the musicians.
In the foyer of the space was a series of fish tank photographs mounted onto aluminum.
Unfortunately, there is no video documentation of this project.
